chemSense is a slim and low-cost fibre-optic Raman probe for molecular fingerprinting of chemicals in harsh or hard-to-reach environments, with minimal disruption.
In order to perform well, Raman probes require complex optical systems at the distal-end, including filters, lenses and mirrors. As a result, Raman probes are often bulky or rigid and unsuitable for applications that require sensing in the most inaccessible environments, such as down narrow tubing or within enclosed containers.
Often, sensing environments are very harsh, and the Raman probe must be discarded after use. Currently available probes are too expensive for single-use applications.
We have developed a novel Raman probe system which allows very efficient signal collection and filtering, within a sub-mm package. We have achieved this through technological breakthroughs in laser-based manufacturing.
Our in-house manufacturing method also reduces the need for complex and time-consuming manual assembly of the distal probes – which dramatically reduces the cost to manufacture the Raman probe. Therefore, we can offer the Raman probe at a price point compatible with single-use, without sacrificing performance.
Our probe is 1 mm in diameter, flexible, and compatible with both submersion and direct contact measurement modes.
